Police are confronted in Times Square during protest against the decision of a grand jury not to indict a police officer involved in the death of Eric Garner in midtown New York, New York, USA, 03 December 2014. A grand jury in Staten Island, New York voted today that there was not enough evident to indict New York City police officer Daniel Pantaleo, who was administering a chokehold to Garner in July when he died. US Attorney General Eric Holder said that Eric Garner, who was 43, 'died tragically' at the hands of police, and that federal investigators would conduct an 'independent, thorough and fair' investigation to see if his civil rights had been violated. The federal probe will follow the refusal of a grand jury to indict the police officer who restrained Garner. EPA/PORTER BINKS
